John S. Cramp
John S. Cramp is an accomplished business executive with over thirty years of leadership experience in Fortune 500, startup, and growth companies. As a C-level executive Mr. Cramp successfully founded and led a number of companies through critical development phases, increasing value for shareholders.
Mr. Cramp has significant operating experience across a broad range of strategic planning, sales, marketing, product development and general management functions. He has been most focused within information technology-centric industries; extensively in electronic payments and related computer/communications and financial industry software applications development. He has proven business development skills, resulting in sales to commercial and government customers worldwide. He has a diverse capital market knowledge base having raised multiple rounds of debt and equity capital for emerging growth companies. He’s executed growth strategies, both organic and merger and acquisition-related. Mr. Cramp has both public and private company experience.
Mr. Cramp joined Motionsoft as CEO in September 2016. Motionsoft is a Rockville, MD customer relationship software and payment management technology solutions provider serving the fitness/health club industry.
In 2012 he Co-Founded Gaming Network Solutions LLC (www.gamingnetworksolutions.com), where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Gaming Network Solutions, LLC (GNS) is a social gaming software developer and provider of online and mobile, multi-player game applications; participating in the worldwide market for online gaming solutions.
In 2010 Mr. Cramp founded Potomac Way, Inc. an electronic payments investment and advisory company serving small and mid-sized enterprises.
From 2007 to 2010 Mr. Cramp served as Chief Executive Officer for Solveras, Inc., a private electronic payments company. During this period he lead all aspects of this electronic payment services company, providing payment and cash management solutions to over 15,000 small businesses in the United States. Reporting to the Founder and Chairman he directed the company through a transition from its entrepreneurial phase to sustainable growth stage. During his tenure he doubled top line revenue (24% CAGR 06-09), while maintaining profit margins in a very challenging market condition. The Company was sold to Transfirst, a leading US-based Payments Company.
Prior to Solveras, Mr. Cramp served as Chief Operating Officer for Telkonet Corporation, a public technology company (AMEX: TKO). Telkonet developed and marketed technology for the transmission of high-speed voice, video and data communications over existing electrical wiring. At Telkonet Mr. Cramp directed R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing and Customer Services. He defined and implemented worldwide business and product development strategies resulting in over 350% revenue growth.
From 2004 through 2007 Mr. Cramp was an investor and provided business advisory services to Smart Payment Solutions, a start-up ACH payment processing company. His involvement contributed to the rapid growth and successful sale of the company in 2007.
Mr. Cramp served as CardSystems Solutions, Inc. Chief Executive Officer and Director from 1997 to 2004. During this period, Mr. Cramp developed and implemented the business strategy and proprietary products to transform a start-up software development company into a high-growth, recurring revenue, electronic payment processing services company transacting over $10 billion yearly in credit, debit, and electronic benefits payments for over 100,000 commercial and government organizations. The Company was sold to private equity investors in 2004.
Prior to joining CardSystems, Mr. Cramp was Vice President of Information Management Consultants Inc. (IMC), a systems integration and software development company, where he was responsible for its commercial business operations focused on the financial services industry. At IMC he turned a non-profitable business unit around while increasing the revenue run rate from $1 million to $10 million. From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Cramp was President of Simpact Inc., a privately held California-based company involved in the development, production and worldwide sales of data communication products and services. Prior to 1990, Mr. Cramp spent 13 years in the computer industry in increasingly responsible roles with Encore Computer, Wang Laboratories, and Data General, primarily focused on delivering computer systems technology to US Government and related contractors.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Seneca Inc., a privately held information technology company in Vienna, VA. He also serves as a Strategic Advisor to Hyperion Technologies LLC, a privately held technology company in College Park, Maryland.
Mr. Cramp earned a BA in accounting from Franklin and Marshall College. He and his wife, Lori, split their time between residences in Arlington, VA and Stevensville, MD.
