Stick with me on this one…I’m going to take the scenic route to make my point. But first a quote (please read the first sentence as to why we are starting with a quote). “People can get a cheeseburger anywhere, okay? They come to Chotchkie’s for the atmosphere and the attitude. Okay? That’s what the flair’s about. It’s about fun.” And that’s what today’s blog is about flair…specifcally what goes into making a buying decision. Flair. That and a good cheeseburger…

How are you celebrating Equipment Week?
As the Official Blog of the Health and Wellness industry (we are also looking for an official beer, and an official time keeper) I anointed this week “Equipment Week.” Equipment Week isn’t about family and friends. And it’s not about cinnamon lattes and Yule logs. Equipment Week is about your members. It’s about your business. And it’s about the one thing that separates you from having an empty room. So let me tell you what you should be thinking about during Equipment Week.

What can we learn from NASA?
As we watched the Space Shuttle Discovery fly by our Motionsoft 5th floor office, almost at eye level, a great lesson in marketing was learned.

What is the fitness industries “sliced bread”?
The other day, I was talking to a colleague about the new sales goal setting system in MoSo. And without a second thought I said, “That’s the best thing since sliced bread!” I am prone to hyperbole but we have taken something very standard, and improved upon it in a way nobody has done up to this point. Are Yoga and Fitness at war?
I love watching commercials for bottled water. The images and words they use to convince us how absolutely pure their water is, always makes me smile. Idyllic pictures of mountain streams and glaciars…and Fiji (for some unknown reason, even to the Fijians they apparently are a trusted source for water.) The reality is that none of the water we drink comes from those sources…(keep reading I promise there is a point)

Could you still become a professional athlete?
All of us at some point realize that the dream of being a professional athlete is probably over. For me it was 2003. It wasn’t because I had an injury, or was too old, or even because I didn’t have a NIKE sponsorship yet. No there was another reason I knew I would never become a professional athlete, and specifically an NFL player (not even a kicker). And what makes it so sad was that nobody actually had to tell me. I just knew.
