Clichés are great. You can say a lot without actually saying anything. Some would argue (not to my face) that is the secret to my success. But that’s only MOSTLY true. Every now and then I have something substantive to say. Read on to find out if this is one of those times.

Setting expectations leads to better retention (and free food)
I went out last week to a nice restaurant (no not McDonalds!) and after getting seated, and placing our drink order (dirty martini extra olives with blue cheese), our waiter immediately became my best friend, and godfather to my yet unborn children by bringing out free food…he called it an amuse-bouche. This just blew me away…and it occurred to me there is something we can learn from all of this…

Words confuse me. Especially long ones. But this blog isn’t about me, it’s about you and the single most important thing about you…the name of your facility? I took a look at a list of the over 2000 clubs that use Motionsoft and this is what I learned…

Could your gym be a Walmart?
At a time when competition has increased, where our industry has become more specialized, and more commoditized, anything…everything matters when it comes to the bottom line. And it seems that an easy place to start would be adding or improving your existing facility by offering customers, not the things you want them to buy, but the things they want to buy (because they forgot it!). Soap, towels, headphones, combs, hair gel, razors, shampoo, deodorant. And with the price of gas, adding a little more one-stop to your shop might be something they love!
