The Third Place
Ray Oldenburg, in his The Great Good Place suggested that all of us have a third place; a place of pure sociability that improves our quality of life. Gym owners can improve member retention by transforming their gym space into a third place for their members. Collecting information from your members may reveal heretofore information about them that would allow you to transform their experience in your club, from just a place to workout to a third place.

Promotions to Retain Members
Instead of using a one-time give-away of a costly product as a promotion to retain members, use a longer less costly per visit give-away promotion instead. This helps to get members in the door and keeps them coming back.
